About
Sharron Drake Community Arts
We are makers that work in concert with local non-profit organizations to enliven our West Marin culture and foster creativity in our community.
Sharron Drake Community Arts produces events in collaboration with inspirational artists in our midst and puts on live performances and events with an “I’ve got a barn, let’s do a show” verve by enlisting the collective passions and skills of West Marin's citizens: actors, musicians, artisans and enthusiasts of all ages.
We have learned first-hand the inspiring connection that these offerings bring and found how our humble enterprise has engaged local kids, bridged social and societal gaps and brought joy to the full spectrum of our community.
Community Arts inspired us in ways we could not have anticipated.

Sharron Drake fifth-generation descendant of The James Family, "one of history's most brilliant, eccentric and daring American dynasties" *, Sharron grew up in an unconventional and erudite household: she recalls her father building his own Heathkit organ that he sat and played while her mother accompanied him on her double bass. The first movie she saw, as an early memory was Ingmar Bergman's Trollflöjten at around 4 years old. Needless to say, she always felt steeped in The Arts.
Sharron is a classically-trained violinist and singer, having the joy of performing contemporary opera in London, playing Mozart cadenzas with a driving country beat in Atlanta and treading the boards as an actress on multiple Bay Area stages in her salad days: Marin Theatre Company, Pacific Alliance Stage Company, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival and The Mountain Play, among others. In the live music scene she has had the pleasure of sitting in with many notable and brilliant local bands, once having jammed with Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Peter Rowan and Jerry Harrison and opening for the likes of Kenny Loggins, The Flaming Lips, Grace Potter and Thomas Dolby.
She recently came off of a long career in the entertainment industry, working for a major media behemoth in intellectual property management and other legal matters for a large global evergreen brand. This experience has given her the great learning experience of interfacing with world-class lawyers, expert public-relations and marketing gurus as well as genius innovators in art and technology. She formed Sharron Drake Community Arts to challenge our society to bring back more culture and beauty into our everyday lives: these are challenging times, and it is certainly a balm to know that human beings are capable of creating great beauty, kindness and connection in our world through art and live performance. She fosters the conviction that doing so can cure many of our collective psychogenic ills.

Let's Create Something
Great Together!
We are always seeking to bring in enthusiastic creatives, dreamers, academics, armchair polymaths and folks of all levels of experience that want to join in these grassroots public works projects. We love locally-sourced, upcycled and homespun, and we can find a beautiful place for neglected bric-a-brac and old bolts of fabric gathering dust in one's attic. Come join the effort in any way you please - and thank you for your support!
